​Little Moe is a tiny gosling, teased by his siblings and called “Slow Moe” for being slower to do things like waddle and swim. Moe’s Mama tries to teach Moe the best she can, but the other goslings catch onto flying much faster. Moe is left with Mama when the others go on long flights and worries that he’ll be left behind come migration season. Fall arrives, but still Moe can’t fly. Finally, Papa tells Mama and Moe that he’s leaving with the other goslings to fly south for winter: “We must leave now, or we won’t find food during the journey.” Moe hopes to master flying and, with his mother, join another southbound flock to reunite with the family. As Moe practices one night, he sees yellow eyes in the dark and is so scared that he takes flight. The family reunion is touchingly portrayed as Moe tells his excited siblings about his adventures.
